Ingredients: Saffron. This spice is derived from the flowers of the plant named Crocus sativus (saffron crocus). Together with the styles (pistil stalks) that connect the stigmas (sticky knobs at the top of the pistil) to their host plant. The dried stigmas (Saffron) are used mainly in various cuisines as a seasoning and colouring agent.
Saffron's taste and hay-like fragrance result from the constituents of picrocrocin and safranal. It also contains a carotenoid dye, crocin which imparts a rich golden - yellow hue to dishes and textiles.
