Ingredients:- Wheaten Cornflour, Salt, Natural Vanilla Flavour, Colours (102, 124). Custard was originally created by Roman gourmet Marcus Apicius in the 1st century.
Custard was a dish consisting of milk, eggs, honey, flavouring, and sometimes sugar, boiled or baked until set. In 1837, Alfred Bird (senior), an English chemist, devised a way of making custard without eggs as his wife was allergic to them. Custard powder, today, is mostly cornstarch, and is simply stirred into hot milk, with a little added sugar, to make a thick, creamy sauce. Serve hot over puddings, desserts, etc.
