Cranberry (Borlotti) Beans are a medium sized roundish, speckled bean of the kidney bean family. It is a little sweeter and a more delicate nut-like flavour than the more common pinto bean. Mauve with dark red mottling , the cranberry bean adds lovely colour to any dish.
It is regularly used in soups, salads of bitter greensand pasta dishes like the traditional Pasta e Fagioli. High in proteins and minerals especially iron, calcium. potassium, phosphorus and copper. Also rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2 and B6 and Niacin.
